古田亘（ふるた わたる）
写真家 / アートディレクター
1971 年、静岡市生まれ。CICカナダ国際大学卒。早稲田大学 大学院経営管理研究科修了。株式会社CSK（現SCSK）から映像制作会社へ。様々なメディアコンテンツのプロデュース、ディレクションを手がけた後、2001年に独立。浅野忠信初監督作品「トーリ」(’04年)のプロデュースや、サーフドキュメンタリー映画「アドア」(’07年)の監督として注目を集めた。その他、BS-TBSなどのテレビ番組やキャンペーン、HELLO! PROJECTによる舞台公演のためのデザインや写真、映像演出を数多く手がけている。デザイン、写真、CM演出などプロジェクト全般を担当することが多い。写真レタッチやCGエフェクトを含めた動画編集も自ら行う。2015年に写真展「少年と海」、2016年に写真展「GREEN GATE」を東京 代官山のGALLERY SPEAK FORにて開催。2009年から「アジア国際子ども映画祭」審査委員。日本グラフィックデザイン協会正会員。

WATARU FURUTA
PHOTOGRAPHER / ART DIRECTOR
Born in Shizuoka, Japan 1971. Graduated from Canadian International College. After being responsible for sales, advertisement and promotion at computer company, SCSK, he moved on to a video production company where he was in charge of design; direction; computer graphics for films, commercials, games and television programs; as well as Hollywood and other foreign co-production projects. In 2001, he established “goggle Inc.”, directing videos for TBS and BS-TBS programs. He directed and produced some short films and TV programs. In 2007, the documentary film, “ADOR” (45min) was screened in Shibuya, Yokohama, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe and Fukuoka. He produced the first film “tori” directed by actor “Tadanobu Asano”. Since 2008, he began to act as a photographer. Mainly, he works for advertisements of TV program, advertisement, theatrical play and feature films. He also stated his original photograph series “boys and sea” and “GREEN GATE”. He served as jury chairman of the Ibusuki Children’s Film Festival from 2009 to 2018.

“While Wataru Furuta’s professional career has consisted on shoots for ads, TV shows, films, and stage performances, one personal series focuses on ocean landscapes. Ten years ago Furuta moved with his family to Hayama, Kanagawa Prefecture and here he began taking pictures with a camera as if writing a diary as part of his daily life. The innocence found in his professional photography is also discerned here, yet these images capture the beauty of the ocean’s calm and the fearsomeness of its turbulence with an awareness of its special kind of beauty and drama inimitable by humans. With quiet inflections of color and form, these photographs reveal emotions that appear differently each time and leave strong impressions upon the viewer. Furuta’s gaze also expresses his desire for his three sons to grow and develop a good relationship with the sea, giving these works an expansiveness not usually found in ocean photography.”—- Gallery Press–
